    Common questions

What should a tradie quote include?

Your business name, ABN and contact details; the customer's name and site address; a clear list of work and materials with prices; whether prices include GST; how long the quote is valid; and your key terms, such as deposits, payment timing and what isn't included. The builder has a field for each.

    Is a quote legally binding?

A quote is usually treated as a fixed offer that becomes a contract once the customer accepts it, while an estimate is a rough guide. If the job might change, say so in your terms and put variations in writing. For domestic building work in Victoria there are extra contract rules above certain values, so check with the Victorian Building Authority.

Do I have to include GST in a quote?

If you're registered for GST, be clear whether your prices include it. Consumer law expects prices shown to consumers to include GST, so for home owners it's safest to quote GST-inclusive totals. If you're not registered, don't add GST.

Can I turn the quote into an invoice?

Yes. When the job's done, tap "Turn this quote into an invoice" and everything carries across to the invoice builder.

    Do you keep my quotes?

No. The builder runs entirely in your browser. If you tick "remember my business details", they're saved on this device only, so you don't retype them next time.
